I'm so glad you want to hold a Knit Democracy Together knitting circle! I'm looking forward to connecting with you on this important work.

Together we'll talk about the U.S. electoral system and increase our understanding of voting, redistricting, and elections. You’ll learn how our system of representative democracy is being undermined and find out what you can do to restore it.

You'll also knit or crochet pieces of a sculpture of a state capitol building. This is a fun way to connect with other crafters and contribute pieces to a joint effort. It's a symbol of community participation in democracy!

Before you sign up, here's what you need to know about holding a Knit Democracy Together circle.

What is a Knit Democracy Together circle?

In-person Knit Democracy Together knitting circles are typically 90-minute events facilitated by Eve Jacobs-Carnahan. (A virtual knitting circle on Zoom may be a possibility, if you prefer.) To inspire your group, you'll hear about craftivism and see the project's first knitted state capitol sculpture.

You'll learn about and discuss issues related to voting and elections. You'll also learn how some people are working to subvert elections and you’ll gain confidence to take steps to protect our democracy.

And, of course, you can knit your building blocks during the circle!
